Back in time… the beginning
In the heat of July 1996, Ben arrived in Lola’s hometown in Jaén and over lunch with her father and brothers, he announced, in broken Spanish, that he loved farming and wanted to help…
The next morning, they woke him before sunrise and took him straight to the groves. The dust, the heat, and the language barrier hit hard, but Ben was all in.
He watched as Lola’s father and brothers pruned the fresh summer shoots with quiet precision and no instructions, just knowledge passed down through generations. It was his first glimpse of the rhythm and depth of life in the olive groves.
That summer began a bond that would stretch across nearly three decades. From pruning to pressing, Ben joined Lola’s father on countless trips, to the mill, the groves, and beyond, right up until his sudden passing in 2023.
Two&One started with a hot day, a hopeful offer, and a field full of olive trees.
